Ticket Liquidator Donates Nintendo Wii U to Connecticut Childrenâs Medical Center
South Windsor, Connecticut (PRWEB) January 07, 2013
This holiday season, the Ticket Liquidator Charity Team proudly donated a Nintendo Wii U gaming console to the Connecticut Childrenâs Medical Center in Hartford, Conn., as part of a continued effort to partner with local Connecticut organizations and improve the lives of members of the surrounding community. Ticket Liquidator, a leading resale ticket marketplace located in South Windsor, Conn., aims to help the local community through a combination of donations and volunteerism.
The Charity Team originally received the new Nintendo Wii U console in exchange for donating a gift certificate to Nintendo for their holiday season raffle. Right from the start, the team realized the opportunity to make a positive impact on the surrounding community by donating the console to a local institution.
âAs soon as we found out that we were going to receive the new Nintendo Wii U, we knew it was a great opportunity to give back to the community,â said Tara Dojan, Customer Care Arbiter and head of the Ticket Liquidator Charity Team. âWeâre very happy to provide the Nintendo Wii U to these children during the holiday season.â
The hospital was thrilled to receive the console, which will be used in a variety of ways by patients at the Medical Center.
âWe are delighted to receive the extraordinarily generous gift of a Nintendo Wii U from Ticket Liquidator,â said Marci Lombardo, Development Coordinator at the Connecticut Childrenâs Medical Center Foundation. âThe Wii system will bring smiles to the faces of many patients not only during the holidays, but throughout the year and we are very grateful.â
Besides therapeutic uses like improving gross and motor skills, the console will help sick children in many other ways such as helping them acclimate to the hospital during trying times, according to Lombardo.
âThe Wii helps to bring normalcy to children's lives while they are hospitalized. For example, playing a game of bowling on the Wii allows for social interaction with other patients, part of what children need to develop into healthy adults. Families enjoy time together on the Wii and patients can also forget where they are while playing Wii games. Electronic gaming systems are both a great distraction and a wonderful tool to ease anxiety and help children adjust to not feeling so well.â
Besides the Nintendo Wii U donation, Ticket Liquidator also recently donated to a local Connecticut musicianâs indiegogo campaign to help with her album recording and held a bake sale at the University of Connecticut as part of the Great American Bake Sale to raise money for children in need of food.
In the past, the team has helped sort food at Foodshare, a local food bank, and helped beautify the grounds at Family Life Education, a non-profit organization that provides support to families in Hartford County.
